The Art of Becoming Human
If we are ever going to achieve the goal of becoming human we need to go beyond the science of life by engaging in the art of living. The art of becoming human is sketched and colored by a lived life that includes: delving into in the elusive beauty of subjectivity; committing to egalitarian encounters filled with love and care; trusting that we each and all are interdependently arising moment-by-moment; realizing that one's individual "I" arises from our shared, collective "We"; ethically giving and forgiving; understanding that the language we use creates the reality we experience; and believing that everyday life is the ultimate laboratory for human evolution. The artistic genius William Blake once wrote that, "Everything in life is holy, life delights in life". Could it be that the delight of becoming human is created out of the artistry we bring to our living?
